Michaelmas Term - Sixth Form Update
The Lower Sixth students and a group of staff had a fun weekend away at Dearne Valley Activity Centre last weekend. It was a great opportunity for staff and students to get to know each other better and to take part in activities familiar and new. See the gallery for pictures from the weekend.
Lower Sixth 360 event – thank you to everyone who took part. We’ve had very positive feedback and parents unable to attend will be sent the information and a video to explain the data.
Upper Sixth UCAS Q&A event – another excellent evening with some excellent questions from students and parents, and a good opportunity to understand the UCAS process better, and in a timely fashion. Please find a link to the live event here.
University Open Days
Many of our students are already out and about visiting universities and making an excellent impression. We are hearing some good stories about their experiences so far and about subsequent offers of work experience opportunities prior to enrolling.
Community Service and Charity Events
The Granger's Club
This coming Tuesday evening, 4 October, Princethorpe College Youth SVP group is welcoming members of the Granger's Club for people with learning difficulties along with family members, helpers and volunteers. The club is usually based at the Hagard Community Centre in Willenhall where a number of our sixth form pupils regularly volunteer. Activities will include use of the climbing wall and fitness suite, therapy dogs and board games.
World Porridge Day and Mary's Meals
Our World Porridge Day celebration in aid of Mary's Meals, which provides a daily meal in school for over 2 million children, will include our annual inter-house welly-wanging competition and will take place on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October. Scotland - where Mary's Meals has its roots - has an obvious connection to porridge. In Malawi, the staple food is a maize porridge enriched with vitamins... so porridge will be on sale at break time to help raise funds for the charity. A reminder to all the Sixth Form to bring in cash on the day.
Families are also encouraged to order a big blue mug through this form which can support any further fundraising at home.
View our progress in fundraising for Makalanga School by viewing our dedicated site here. Or to support the Mary's Meals emergency appeal click here.
