Girls' Rugby

This term has seen the start of Girls’ Rugby at Princethorpe. We have seen the numbers grow with 20 girls turning out under the floodlights last Friday night, with their boots on, ready to enjoy developing their rugby skills.

Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to experienced club players, from any year group. It has been a delight to see so many girls arrive along to the sessions, returning each week to develop their skills, enjoy passing the ball around with friends and of course – to get muddy! Their confidence in the sport has grown each week.

We have been fortunate to have attracted experienced Princethorpe rugby players that already play for local clubs, including Old Leamingtonians, Banbury and Barker Butts. These players are offering support and leadership in our rugby drills, fostering that supportive team spirit which we know rugby builds in young people.

Any pupil thinking of coming along will need rugby/football boots and a gum shield along with Princethorpe sports kit.

We are on the school fields from 4.00pm until 5.30pm every Friday. Sessions will be tailored according to the ability and age of the girls arriving.

We would love to have a box of spare rugby/football boots still in reasonable condition to give new and returning girls an opportunity to attend Rugby club on a Friday before committing to purchasing boots. If you have some taking up space at home then please send them in.
