Parents Reading Group

Wednesday 12 September 2018 at 7.30pm

At our Meeting in June we discussed Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman which has been a best-seller for many months now. Although some enjoyed the book more than others, we found this on the whole an engaging and easy read.  The novel charts the life and slow transformation of Eleanor herself as she comes to terms with a horrific past and begins to make connections with the world.  The horrors of her past remain in the background for most of the novel and there are some very funny moments.  There are many twists and surprises at the end but overall this is a warm book which celebrates all those little things which make life worth living.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 12 September at 7.30pm in the library.  We aim to read The Island by Victoria Hislop over the holiday who is an author we have not tried before although she comes very well recommended.  We also aim to read Conclave by Robert Harris.  Please join us whether or not you have read these books.  We are a friendly group of readers and we certainly hope to welcome some new faces in the new academic year.
