Plenty Of Super Skiing Enjoyed In Val Di Fiemme
Eighty-four pupils visited the traditional Italian ski resort of Val di Fiemme during the Easter holidays. Excellent conditions made for plenty of super skiing during their week-long stay.
The party travelled by coach over to Panchia in Italy. There they stayed at the Hotel Panorama, a friendly centrally located hotel where the helpful local staff ensured everything ran smoothly. The accommodation was good and the food in the hotel superb with plenty of choice for hungry après ski teenagers. Mid-week the group enjoyed a great evening out at a local pizza restaurant where everyone enjoyed the local speciality.
But it was the skiing that everyone was interested in. Beginners, intermediates and advanced, every group benefited from a dedicated ski instructor who coached and fine-tuned their skills and took them out into three resorts, Bellamonte, Cermis and Pampeago, and across some 100kms of skiing tracks. There was a wide choice of runs, from greens up to blacks, so Princethorpe’s downhillers were spoilt for choice. During the week progress was excellent, so much so that the final day’s downhill races were hotly contested; the winners were delighted with the medals awarded at the presentation evening. The added bonus of fresh snow virtually every day helped ensure the Princethorpe party had a spectacular time.
Other entertainment included late afternoon swimming at the Cavalese swimming pool, a disco night in the local night club and exquisite Italian ice cream at the local parlour.
The 2018 Ski Trip certainly provided a memorable end to a busy Lent Term.
Pupils currently in Years 7 and 9 interested in joining next year’s Ski Trip at Easter 2019 should attend a meeting on Friday 4 May at 1.05pm in the Theatre to find out more.
