2022-23 Teaching Groups

As we approach the end of this academic year, we are finalising September’s timetable and have started the process of designing teaching groups for next year. For pupils going into Years 8 and 9, this will involve a new teaching group for most of their subjects which will be constructed in discussion with both academic and pastoral staff. Pupils will find out which group they are in in September when they receive their new timetables. We encourage all pupils to view this change as an opportunity to widen their circle of friends and to work with a broader range of people.

Book Of The Month

When The Sky Falls by Phil Earle

It's 1940, and Joseph has been packed off to stay with Mrs F, a gruff woman with no great fondness for children.

Joseph is amazed to discover Mrs F owns the rundown city zoo where she takes him to meets Adonis, a huge silverback gorilla.

Adonis is ferociously strong and dangerous, but Joseph finds he has an affinity with the lonely beast.

He would rather spend time with Adonis than at school, which has turned out to be a very difficult and unwelcoming place for Joseph most of the time, due to his difficulty reading words, even though he is a genius at maths.

But when the bombs begin to fall, it is up to Joseph to guard Adonis's cage should it be damaged by a blast. Will Joseph be ready to pull the trigger if it comes to it?
