Year 9 to 11 Curriculum Insights Evening For External Candidates

Thursday 9 January 2025 – 6.15pm to 8.00pm

External candidates and their parents interested in finding out more about Princethorpe’s Year 9 to 11 Curriculum are invited to a dedicated Curriculum Insights Evening on Thursday 9 January 2025 from 6.15pm to 8.00pm.

Aimed at pupils currently in Years 8 and 9, the event will run in parallel to the College’s Year 9 Options Evening for current pupils and will give visitors an overview of the Key Stage 4 curriculum at Princethorpe, the core GCSE subjects, the GCSE and BTEC options available, the College’s ethos and wider opportunities at the school. Information will also be provided on the mid-year admissions process, our vertical tutoring system and the academic and pastoral support given to pupils moving into Year 9 or 10 to ensure a smooth transition.

After a brief introductory presentation from key staff, visitors will be guided around their choice of the GCSE/BTEC option departments and at the end of the evening there will be the opportunity to ask questions of the Senior Leadership and Admissions Teams

Light refreshments will be served.

Sixth Form Taster Day For External Candidates - Reminder

Tuesday 14 January 2025 - 9.00am to 5.00pm

For those of you who have children in Year 11 who are not currently studying at Princethorpe or who have friends with Year 11 children, our upcoming Sixth Form Taster Day for external candidates may be of interest. 

The Sixth Form Taster Day is an opportunity for a small group of prospective Sixth Formers to visit the College for a selection of A-level and BTEC subject taster lessons, a Q&A session with current Sixth Formers and Year 11, lunch, a tour of school and a chance to meet the Headmaster and Head of Sixth Form.

The day will run from 9.00am to 4.15pm, when parents are invited back to join an informal Sixth Form information session which will finish around 5.00pm.

The Sixth Form at Princethorpe offers great choice, quality teaching in small classes, a vast array of sporting, co-curricular, leadership and service opportunities coupled with excellent pastoral care and careers guidance, tailored to the needs of today’s young adults. Our staff give outstanding individual support to all students and this remains an essential feature of Sixth Form life.

Places are strictly limited to 24 Year 10 pupils 
  • Subject areas: Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology and Project Management 
  • Target pupils: Those interested in pursuing a career in Science based subjects, healthcare, chemical industry or further research in Year 10 only
  • Sign up: Pupils are to sign up via their Science teacher (message via Teams or email) 
  • About RBT: RBT is a global developer, formulator and manufacturer of hygiene and infection control products. Their products are equally as effective as harsh chemicals but are biodegradable, alcohol-free and water based. Year 5 Try Tag Rugby

Friday 24 January 2025 – 4.15pm to 6.00pm

In the New Year, the Admissions Team will be starting to turn its attention to Year 7 entry to the College in September 2026. 

The first opportunity for Year 5 prospective candidates to visit is on Friday 24 January, when there is an afternoon of free tag rugby training for boys and girls on our astro, learning new skills and making friends before a mini tournament. Beginners welcome. Light refreshments will be available for spectators.

This event is aimed at girls and boys who do not attend a Foundation prep school. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
