Christmas Prayer

It hardly seems a year since the Chaplaincy team set their minds to thinking about a prayer for the Christmas edition of The Flagpole. A year in which so much has happened: A General Election in the UK; an American Presidential election; war in Ukraine continues and famine reported in parts of Africa and elsewhere; the Summer Olympics, a total solar eclipse and the list goes on. Your own list might include the joy and happiness of family celebrations, exam success, moving up a year group, a sporting success and new adventures. Sadly, this Christmas might also be one of sad memories as you grieve for the loss of a loved one.

In the midst of all the preparations for Christmas it can be easy to forget its true meaning. A gift not wrapped in colour paper and a bow but rather that of a child wrapped in ‘swaddling clothes’. A gift that indeed keeps on giving in the person of Jesus Christ. A gift of joy, a gift of forgiveness and a gift who can identify with us in our human state. This is a gift that will last a lifetime if we allow His presence into our lives.

A Christmas Prayer:

In this holy season as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus may we be mindful of all that is good in our lives: family, friends and freedoms easily taken from granted.

May our Christmas greetings be ones of sincerity and blessings.

May our Christmas tables be full not only of food but of friendship and love to all who gather to celebrate.

May our thoughts be with those whom this Christmas will be one of sorrow and grief.

May the new year, be one of receiving and giving love and encouragement to all whom we meet on our life journey.

Amen

Please can you remind your child over the Christmas holiday of the mobile phone expectations in school as outlined below:

Mobile phones must be put away as soon as a pupil arrives on site.

  • Year 7 – Year 9 must put their mobile phones in their locker and are not allowed to have them on their person.

  • Year 10 – Year 11 are allowed phones on their person, but they must be on silent, out of sight, and only used with permission from a member of staff.

  • Sixth Form are allowed to use their phones in the Sixth Form Centre, however, as soon as they move into the rest of the site, their phones must be on silent, out of sight, and only used with permission from a member of staff.

  • No earphones are allowed unless required for educational purposes and with permission from staff. Sixth Form pupils may use earphones in the Sixth Form Centre.

  • Pupils are allowed to access their phones freely at the end of the school day. In Prep, phones will be put away at 4.20pm.

Uniform Expectations And Sixth Form Dress Code

Can I ask parents to read and fully appraise themselves of the uniform expectations for our pupils and Sixth Form students over the Christmas holiday please. A copy can be found here under Parents' Documentation - 2024-2025 Key Documents.

Our uniform expectations do continue to be enforced throughout the school year. If we do have any concerns with a pupil's uniform we will contact you directly to resolve any arising matters.

Should you need to replace any items of uniform for the coming term then please contact the school shop by emailing uniform@princethorpe.co.uk with your request.

Thank you for your continued support.

Parking Arrangements At Drop-Off And Pick-Up

We kindly remind you of the importance of adhering to the set parking arrangements during drop-off and pick-up times.

Recently, we have received concerns from parents, staff, and pupils regarding parking practices, including reports of parental aggression.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone:

  • Drop-off and pick-up must only take place in the designated playground area. The staff car park is not to be used for this purpose until after 4.10pm and then it is reserved for collection from Prep.
  • The speed limit is 10 miles per hour within the school grounds. This is crucial to protect the safety of all children and staff. Please do not exceed this limit.
  • We expect all interactions to be conducted respectfully. Aggressive or rude behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Could we ask that your consideration is also extended to the residents of Princethorpe when you drive through Princethorpe village

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in fostering a safe and respectful school environment for everyone.
