While thinking about time away from work and studies to enjoy days of rest, we pause to reflect on this great Christian season of Easter. While Christmas has all the ingredients of a comfortable story of the birth of a child, we now reflect on that child as an adult and his horrific death. But the story does not end there, rather it is only the beginning of a faith journey in the resurrected Jesus on Easter Sunday morning. And so we pray:

Jesus, your victory over the grave is our victory over sin and entry into life eternal.  We rejoice on this Easter Sunday morning that light overcomes darkness, love conquers death, sadness and despair give way to hope. 

As creation springs forth with new life and growth and our Lenten fast and penance is at an end, we ask that our self-denial of forty days may remind us of our good fortune and the need to be aware of those less fortunate than ourselves.  May we imitate the concern of Jesus for the poor, the outcasts, the marginalized and the sick. 

May this Easter be one of joy, happiness and thanks to all whom we know and love.
