COVID-19

Covid-19 Related Absence Guide

Please do read the attached guidance document which will hopefully provide more clarity on illness, when to stay off and when to return to school.

You many also find this Coronavirus symptoms flowchart from Warwickshire County Council a helpful guide.

Here is a reminder of the three main symptoms of Coronavirus– if any one of these is present then a test is warranted:

  • A high temperature (37.8 degrees Celsius or above)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • A loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

To protect others, do not go to school, work or places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have ANY of these symptoms. Get a test to check if you have Coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.

As predicted, the return to school at this time of year brings with it many colds/bugs etc. We are extremely thankful to parents for keeping children off if they are unwell and liaising with us ahead of their return to school.

To support this, any parent who has a child absent from school will be asked to complete and return a very short checklist each day that their child is unwell. This will help us support parents and pupils in decision making about their return to school, ultimately minimising the spread of infection around our community. This Pupil Absence Questionnaire will be emailed to parents on a daily basis until your child is back in school.

Thank you very much for your support.

Kind regards

Paula Greig
