Sophie’s Easter Show Jumping Success

At the start of the Easter holiday, Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 April, Princethorpe College Year 8 pupil, Sophie Glover, competed in the Blue Chip Winter Show Jumping Championships at Hartpury College, in Gloucester.  Sophie qualified for the championships back in October at Arena UK in the 90cm class on her pony Dolly.  At the Blue Chip Championships, Sophie rode in the 95cm class against a field of 98 starters.  Despite the tough competition, Sophie jumped an initial clear round and in the jump off against the clock came 10th to finish in the placings and prize money. Sophie said, “I was really pleased with how well Dolly jumped.”

Not content with that success Sophie then took Dolly to the Pony of the Year Show at Olney Showground in Willoughby.  Over the Easter weekend, Thursday 18 to Monday 22 April, Sophie and Dolly placed 2nd and 6th in qualifiers, earning a place in the Grand Prix finals, where they finished 3rd in a fast and technical jump off.  Sophie continued, “It was amazing to come third and take my place on the podium.  I was really proud of Dolly.”

Congratulations Sophie we were delighted to hear about your show jumping success.
